Fund A Need! - Bilingual Education Programs

Mother with duaghter

At Planned Parenthood Northern California, we know that in order to reach under-served populations, we cannot expect them to seek us out. Our staff, programs, and volunteers must reach them where they are – in a culturally competent manner, in a language they understand, and by a trusted individual.

Did you know that here in Napa and across the state thousands of agricultural workers, undocumented Latino immigrants, and other laborers and their families have much poorer health outcomes and more barriers to health services than other Californians? It is outrageous that women and men from these communities disproportionately experience higher rates of STD infections, unintended pregnancies, and reproductive cancers such as cervical, ovarian, and prostate cancers.

Bottom line: there is an urgent need for care.

You can help us double our impact where it really counts. Here at Planned Parenthood Northern California we combine a trusted name with a proven community outreach methodology called Promotores. For example, here in Napa, we help over 3,000 teens, young people, and community members who come to us for medical services and education annually. Help us raise the funds we need to hire one bilingual health educator who will, through this programming, reach almost 6,000 people over the next year.

All members of our community deserve trusted and culturally competent health care. Join us on May 9th and make a difference in the lives of people in Napa and beyond.
